EMILY

This Southern California girl's love for cycling has taken her across continents; first instructing in Texas 6 years ago, before moving to Shanghai and now Berlin. Her classes emphasise beat and form, both in Ride and Refine rooms, as she has also qualified as a Barre instructor.

Fit-focused Qs:

What is your go-to breakfast on a busy morning? I try to have eggs and veggies everyday. If I’m busy I like to grab some egg muffins I keep in the fridge for a grab and go fix.

What's your best strategy to stay motivated? Set goals. For the day, for the week, the month.  Having goals to work towards gives you drive. It doesn’t matter how big or small they are.

The best thing we can do for ourselves after a workout is... stretch! Drink lots of water and nourish your body by eating a clean delicious meal.

Is there a special dietary regime you follow? I usually try to stay away from wheat or dairy, but I also like to stay flexible. I think your diet should be about balance. It's ok to treat yourself. I try to always eat a veggie heavy diet though. I find that when I eat more fresh fruits and vegetables regularly and less processed foods, my energy levels are so much higher.

What are your top three exercises to do at home? I’ve started jump roping recently and love it, and it’s easy to travel with too. Also, mountain climbers, squats and planks

What are your tips to have energy all day? Drink loads of water, and move! Take walks, get a workout in, ride a bike.

What's your favourite motivational quote? You are so much stronger than you think you are.

Favourite smoothie at My Goodness: Oh Kale Yeah … but the sneaky snicker balls are my real favorite.
Best restaurant in Berlin: When I’m missing Chinese food, I love Wok Show and Lucky Star. Favorite restaurant close to home is Big Sur.
Best bar in Berlin:
There’s a small place in my neighborhood that I love. Bei Schlawinchen. Always open, always interesting.
Best place to dance in Berlin: I actually haven’t done much of this part of Berlin yet! Someone take me and show me the ropes.
Favourite exercise: Spin, always. I’m obsessed.
Least favourite exercise: Burpees.


Silly Q's:

Dog, cats, neither? Dogs! I love dogs. But I’m down with cats too, and chickens. I’ve always wanted chickens.

What's your personal theme song? Haha hard to say. I think I need more of a life soundtrack.

You're stranded on an island. What's the one thing you'd wish you had? The reader in me wants to say my kindle, loaded with books. The practical part of me wants to say matches; I think I’d be terrible at starting a fire. I mean, this is assuming my partner is already stranded with me too… typical us getting ourselves stranded on an island.
