How To Stick To Your New Workout Plan
Time to shake things up! Ready to take on the 6 Week Challenge? Or add more cardio to your week with our RIDE classes? Whatever your next goal is, we’re here to help you make it happen!
Is there a foolproof remedy to sticking to your new workout plan? Unfortunately no… but, we have some helpful (and realistic!) advice to help you along the way. There are several theories about the best way to change your behaviour, so here is our round-up of the smartest tips:
Meditate on it
An essential part of making a change requires reflection and thought. WHY do you want more cardio training? WHY are you craving a regular yoga practice? As simple as this might seem, meditating on the reasons why will help you to understand its priority in your life - for your physical and mental health. If you’re giving something a go for the second (or fifth!) time around, you might also think about why this change hasn’t worked in the past. Work through what is keeping you from making that change, and start to understand yourself better.
Be prepared
Know your barriers. Is it lack of time? Why not try a Sunday class before you head to brunch. Lack of motivation? Lay out your workout gear the night before! Once you know your barriers, start planning your ways around them. Keep in mind that we all find it hard overcoming our barriers (and that is okay!), but being prepared makes all the difference.
Take action
No change can come without some action. The only way to make a substantial difference and see the results you want, is by putting in consistent effort! Word on the street says it takes 21 days to form a new habit, so push yourself to stick to your schedule for at least a month. Make that change become a habit.
Find a Buddy
A great way to hold yourself accountable is by having someone else there for you too. Find the right (and by right, we mean disciplined!) buddy to support you in and help you push through the tough times. There is nothing like sweating it out with a pal… which is why our 12 and 16 Monthly Class Packs give you a buddy credit so you can bring a friend!
Keep it up!
After some consistency, your new routine should start to feel like second nature. The benefits (endorphin highs, glowing skin) are definitely outweighing any initial hurdles you jumped over in the early stages (the snooze button). Like many healthy habits you’ve adopted into your daily routine, once you’ve made the change and it’s stuck… often you can’t imagine life without it!
So after these handy hints, now it’s time to get your plan into action! Whether you’re ready to take your fitness to new heights, or wanting to try one of our classes for the first time, drop by the studio and let us know how we can help.
