#RIDEFORHER Event Recap

With Christmas approaching and the year coming to an end, I thought it would be a great time to combine my passion for fitness with a meaningful purpose and giving back to those less fortunate than us. I came up with the concept of #RIDEFORHER, a 45-minute ride session for around 35 people within my network. The money raised from all the tickets would directly go to the  Desert Flower Foundation, an organization that since 2002 has fought against female genital mutilation. Every 11 seconds a girl is being cut, every third girl dies as a result - and the grand majority suffer a lifetime of both physical and psychological trauma.

With 30€, which was the price per ticket for the ride, one girl was saved from undergoing this torturous act. It was fantastic to experience how excited the invitees were about the idea of this special ride, and tickets were sold out within the first week. Some people decided to purchase a ticket even without attending the ride, because they felt this was a great initiative and an idea they wanted to support.

We started the ride on Saturday, December 16th at 1pm. Catarina quickly heated up the room with a mix of throw-back R&B and Brazilian salsa and everyone was having the ride of their lives.

Following the ride, the three participants that rode the furthest, won a #RIDEFORHER t-shirt and we cooled off with a signature smoothie from the delicious My Goodness Café.

The feedback was overwhelming and it became very apparent, that this first #RIDEFORHER was something that needed to be continued. A huge thank you needs to go to the entire team at BECYCLE, as well as My Goodness, who supported the entire process and made sure everyone had an unforgettable day.
