It's always Sunny in BECYCLE

There’s nothing like a bright sunny smile to wake you up in the morning, and guess who does that (almost) every morning at BECYCLE? This Barre-loving babe, Sunny! We love seeing people making the most out of their mornings (and we imagine the rest of their day too) so we decided to find out the story behind Sunny’s non-stop motivation!

Fun fact: As of today, you've taken over 450 classes here. You go girl! And most of these are barre classes, hence why we want to know your story! So which are your favourite classes/teachers and why?
What my favourite classes are is pretty obvious, right?! I’m a really big barre fan. It’s such a great full body workout as it combines exercises from pilates, yoga, ballet and dance.
I come almost every morning and absolutely appreciate the variety of teachers and their unique approaches, which makes every workout different. So, I have no favourite teacher.

What is your fondest memory at BECYCLE?
I don’t have any specific memories. I am always having a great time, which makes every moment a good one.

How'd you find out about BECYCLE in the first place?
Through a very good friend of mine. She told me about the studio, the concept and the barre classes. I checked it out and here I am.

Why BECYCLE (and not your typical gym)?
I have never been a typical gym person. I always did my workout at home. However, BECYCLE took me out of my comfort zone. This is not only because you’ve been the only ones offering barre classes at the time I started. I really appreciate the warm atmosphere, refined interior and definitely the people. When you come every day, it almost feels like they’re your family.

What do you find unique about BECYCLE?
The concept - a perfect combination of classes, interior and atmosphere.

Did you do barre before BECYCLE? If so, where?
Not in Berlin. I took some barre classes in NYC.

What is it that you love about barre?
The full body work out. The variety. The elegance.

What would you tell someone who is thinking about trying out a barre class for their first time?
I would ask the person about their motivation for barre and definitely recommend the best instructor for the first class.

What is your post exercise ritual?
Taking a shower, grabbing a cappuccino at MyGoodness and leaving for work! Slightly different on the weekends.

How do you stay motivated to exercise (and come almost every day AND in the early mornings)?
Working out in the morning became a fix part in my daily routine. It’s the good feeling afterwards that keeps me motivated.

What do you like and/or dislike about a morning routine?
I am an absolute morning person – even on the weekends. I love the fresh air, the atmosphere and silence when the city is about to wake up. Nothing to dislike.

GETTING PERSONAL

Where are you from?
I am from the south of Germany just like the half of Berlin.

Is there a story behind your name? Mom or Dad's wish (no pun intended)?
Sure. My parents asked a befriended artist to draw a painting for my birth, putting my parents with me as a baby in the centre and all kind of things around them, which played an important role in their lives. But my father was missing something bigger than just these items. At this point they didn’t have an idea for my name. They decided to add a huge sunrise in the back of the picture. And that’s how my name was born. Sunny. That is the story in a nutshell. This picture is now hanging in my parents’ home.

Why did you move to Berlin?
I came to Berlin for my studies, although I never wanted to move here. But yeah, came and stayed…until today.

What do you do for a living?
I work in PR.

What do you do for fun besides taking barre classes?
Dine, wine and travelling! I love to explore the restaurant scene all over the world. Besides food experiences, I love reading, art and spending quality time with my friends and family.
