Instructor Insights: Katie



Katie graduated from Dance School in London and has enjoyed working as a freelance dancer and dance teacher ever since. She is also a fully qualified pilates teacher, and combines her understanding of classical ballet technique and pilates methodology to inform her Barre classes! Expect pulses, positive energy and a good stretch at the end!

Fit-focused Qs:

What is your go-to breakfast on a busy morning? A banana!

What's your best strategy to stay motivated? Happy upbeat music goes a long way for me, and good company always keeps me going!

The best thing we can do for ourselves after a workout is...  A shower is probably a good idea!

Is there a special dietary regime you follow? What changes have you seen or felt since you have started it? I’m vegetarian and broccoli is my favourite vegetable! I try to eat seasonal fruit and veg as much as possible, as I try to be conscious of the environment. I also really love chocolate. I tend to listen to my body and to give it what it asks for.

What are your top three exercises to do at home? Being upside down is always fun, and probably the best thing to shift a bad mood! So I guess handstand/headstand should be one! Then I love a grand plie in first position, and anything abdominal focused, as it’s always good to have a strong core.

What are your tips to have energy all day? Get a good nights sleep beforehand! Sleep is so important.

What's your favourite motivational quote? It’s a marathon not a sprint! I think it’s very important to know how to pace yourself and to know your body.
